As the saying goes, "Mango among fruits, pork among meats," pork dishes are among the dishes that Myanmar people enjoy eating with great relish. So, for those who love pork dishes, I'd like to share how to prepare a delicious pork belly dish with a fragrant hint of lemongrass.
Ingredients
- Pork belly - 1 viss
- Garlic - 5 cloves (thinly sliced)
- Shallots - 3 bulbs (thinly sliced)
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon and 2 teaspoons
- Sugar - 1½ teaspoons
- Chili powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Lemongrass - 5 stalks
- Oil
Step-by-step preparation method
1. Cut the pork belly into pieces of your desired size.
Then, mix it evenly with the garlic, shallots, fish sauce, sugar, and chili powder. Let it marinate for about 10 to 15 minutes.
2. Remove the outer layers of the lemongrass. Then, slice it thinly along the length.
3. Heat a pot and add a small amount of oil. Then, add the thinly sliced lemongrass and stir-fry until fragrant.
4. Next, add the pork and stir-fry together with the lemongrass.
Stir-fry once every few minutes. In total, you'll need to fry it for about 20 to 25 minutes.
5. Fry until the lemongrass becomes crispy and the pork turns golden brown. After tasting it, you can add more fish sauce and sugar if needed.
Once all these steps are complete, you'll have a delicious crispy fried pork belly dish.
