Instead of cooking steamed tofu on its own, if you pair it with minced pork, the fat and richness from the pork seeps into the tofu, making it incredibly delicious.

Ingredients

  • 10.5 oz white tofu
  • Olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons finely minced garlic
  • 5 oz pork (finely minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce

  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • White pepper powder
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons thinly sliced spring onion

Step-by-step instructions

1. Pat the tofu dry with a paper towel, then cut it into pieces about half an inch thick.

2. Heat a pan and add a little olive oil. Add the garlic and stir-fry until fragrant. Then add the pork and stir-fry for a few seconds. Add oyster sauce and 2 teaspoons of fish sauce, and stir-fry for about 30 seconds.

3. Mix the cornstarch with water until smooth, then pour it over the pork and stir-fry for about 10 seconds until it thickens evenly. Sprinkle a little white pepper, then transfer it onto a plate.

4. Arrange the slightly undercooked fried pork in the center of a round plate. Then layer the tofu pieces on top of the pork, stacking them one on top of another in a row. Pour the remaining fish sauce and sesame oil over the tofu.

5. Sprinkle spring onion and white pepper powder, then cover the plate with plastic wrap. Then steam it in a steamer for about 12 to 15 minutes.

Once the time is up, you'll have a delicious steamed tofu with minced pork ready to enjoy.
