This chicken dish, a famous main dish from China, combines sweet and spicy flavors into one delicious, well-known chicken recipe. This dish is similar to sesame chicken, but this one has a bit more fish sauce, making it spicier in taste. This dish is usually eaten together with broccoli.
Ingredients
For the chicken
Cut 1/2 pound of boneless, skinless chicken thigh into 1-inch pieces.
Beat 2 eggs.
A little salt and black pepper
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
Vegetable oil
2 teaspoons sesame seeds
A little chopped spring onion
For the sauce
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
A little garlic, pounded
A little crushed chili flakes
3/4 cup chicken broth
2 tablespoons Hoisin Sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
Add salt and black pepper to the eggs and beat well. Mix the flour and cornstarch together. Place a pot on the stove and heat the oil until hot. Dip the cut chicken pieces into the egg mixture. Then roll them in the flour and cornstarch mixture and deep fry. Do this for all the chicken pieces.
Fry for about 5 minutes or until golden brown.
While the chicken is frying, prepare the sauce. In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and chili flakes and stir for about 30 seconds. Add the chicken broth, Hoisin Sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce, and cornstarch, and stir well. Turn off the heat after about 2-3 minutes or once the sauce has thickened.

Add the chicken pieces into the pan and mix well with the sauce until evenly coated.
Once done, sprinkle a little sesame seeds and chopped spring onion on top, and it's ready to be served.
