Hello everyone! This time, I'd like to share the recipe for the famous and popular Korean street food night market favorite, Korean style fried chicken.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken (cut into large chunks)
- Salt and ground pepper, a small amount
- 4 tablespoons wheat flour
- 1 red onion (cut into large chunks)
- Oil for frying
- 4 tablespoons corn flour and 2 tablespoons wheat flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 8 tablespoons ice water
Step by step method
1. Massage the chicken pieces well with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper until evenly coated, then marinate in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours or up to overnight. Then sprinkle 4 tablespoons of wheat flour over it and mix well.
2. To make the batter, in a separate bowl, combine corn flour, 2 tablespoons wheat flour, baking soda, salt, egg, and 8 tablespoons of ice water, then mix well until smooth.
3. Heat a pot and add oil. Then add the red onions and fry until they turn golden brown. Once done, remove the red onions.
4. Dip the chicken pieces into the batter.
Then place it into the hot oil and fry for about 10 minutes.
5. Once all the chicken pieces are fried, fry them a second time in the same hot oil for about 1 minute. This will make the chicken pieces extra crispy.
Once everything is fried, you'll have delicious Korean style fried chicken ready to enjoy.
