Hello everyone! This time, the snack I'd like to share with you is a traditional Japanese fried rice cake. This fried rice cake resembles a type of Myanmar snack called fried kyo (gyoe).

The difference is that this fried rice cake is thicker in texture than fried kyo, and it can be made easily with just rice and wheat flour, without needing to be sun-dried.

Ingredients

  • 2 bowls of cooked rice (steamed until soft)
  • 2 tablespoons of wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce (or) 1 tablespoon of sugar, for dipping

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Put the steamed rice into a bowl. Then sprinkle in the wheat flour and knead until well combined.

2. Then shape the rice into small, round flat discs.

3. Heat a pan and add the vegetable oil.

4. Once the oil is hot, place the rice discs in on low heat and fry for a few minutes.

5. Then flip to the other side and fry for a few more minutes.

Once fried until it turns light brown, you can remove it from the stove.

Now you have a delicious Japanese fried rice cake ready.

You can enjoy it deliciously by dipping it in your favorite sauce.
