Most people already know how to cook pasta. It's actually quite simple. It's also a cooking art that can be made simply, without anything but flour, egg, and water. You can definitely just add water and toss in the pasta, but depending on how much salt you add, you can definitely change your home-cooked pasta into restaurant-quality flavor.
1. Choose a pot
You can cook using whatever pot you have, whether a big pot or a small one. Chefs, however, usually choose a deep pot when cooking pasta, so that long, thin pasta like spaghetti can be fully submerged in water. But keep in mind that the more water you use, the more salt you'll need to add.
2. Add salt to the water
Add salt to the boiling water. Keep the water at a constant boil.
3. Stir the water when adding the pasta
When adding the pasta to the boiling water, stir the water as you add it. If you don't stir, the pasta will stick to the sides of the pot, which is bad.
4. Test the pasta
Depending on the type of dried pasta, cook it for 8 to 10 minutes. Since cooking times can vary depending on the type of pasta, test it after about 4 minutes. For fresh pasta, about 2 to 3 minutes of cooking time is enough. Once you've reached your desired pasta texture, add whatever accompaniments you like and enjoy your delicious pasta.
