This dish, combining juicy stir-fried beef with tender broccoli, is one of the most popular Chinese dishes in America. It can be cooked quickly and is also very easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup oyster sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1/3 cup Sherry Wine
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch
  • Cut 3/4 pound of beef into 1/8 inch thick slices.
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil,
  • Thinly slice the ginger
  • Peel and crush 1 clove of garlic.
  • Cut 1 head of fresh broccoli.

In a bowl, mix together the oyster sauce, sesame oil, Sherry Wine, soy sauce, sugar, and corn starch until the sugar and corn starch have dissolved. Marinate the sliced beef in this sauce and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Heat vegetable oil in a large pot. Add the ginger and garlic and stir. Once the oil is hot, let it infuse for about 1 minute for flavor, then remove the ginger and garlic. Add the broccoli and stir for about 5 to 7 minutes until it softens. Then remove the broccoli and set it aside.

Add plenty of oil to the pot. Add the beef along with the marinade. Stir until it browns, then let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly. Add the broccoli. Heat the beef and broccoli together and stir for about 3 minutes.

Now your juicy stir-fried beef and broccoli dish is ready to serve.
