Ingredients

  • Boneless chicken breast
  • 2 ½ teaspoons chili powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • 6 ½ tablespoons butter
  • 1 ½ onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 teaspoons masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cinnamon stick, 3 inches (8 cm) long
  • 14 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream

Step-by-step Instructions

In a large bowl, mix the chicken with salt, 1 teaspoon chili powder, and 1 teaspoon turmeric.

In a large pot, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until it turns brown, then remove it from the pot.

Once another 2 tablespoons of butter has melted, add the onions, garam masala, the remaining chili powder, cumin, ginger, garlic, Cayenne, cinnamon stick, salt, and black pepper, and cook until fragrant.
Add the tomato sauce and bring to a boil. Once it boils, add the water and cream, then bring to a boil again.

Return the chicken to the pot, cover, and let it simmer for another 10-15 minutes. Mix in 2 tablespoons of butter, then season with salt and black pepper to taste. Once cooked, serve over rice and enjoy!
