Hello everyone! This time, I'd like to share how to prepare a beef dish cooked with a flavorful sweet-salty sauce made by mixing fish sauce and brown sugar in the right proportions.
Ingredients
- 7 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon onion
- 1/2 teaspoon thinly sliced ginger
- 8 tablespoons fish sauce
- 8 tablespoons water
- 8 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 pound beef
- 4 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 stalks spring onion (cut into 1-inch lengths)
Step-by-step Instructions
1. Heat a pot and add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Once the oil is hot, add the ginger and garlic and sauté for about 2 minutes. Then add the fish sauce and a little water, and stir well until combined.
2. Next, add the brown sugar and let it simmer for about 3 minutes until it boils. Once done, pour it into a bowl and set aside.
3. Cut the beef into medium-sized pieces. Then place it in a bowl and mix well with the cornstarch until evenly coated. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
4. Heat the pot again and add 5 tablespoons of oil. Once the oil is hot, add the beef and stir-fry for about 2 minutes. Transfer the fried beef to a plate. Remove any excess oil into a separate bowl.
5. Then reheat the pot. Pour the sauce prepared in step (2) back into the pot. Immediately add the fried beef and stir-fry for about 3 to 5 minutes.
Just before taking it off the stove, sprinkle in the spring onions and stir well until evenly mixed.
And there you have it - a bowl of beef dish cooked with a delicious sweet-salty sauce.
