Hello everyone! If you don't have banana leaves ready at home for steaming pork cabbage rolls, cabbage leaves can be used instead of banana leaves.
Let me share with housewives how to prepare and cook delicious steamed pork cabbage rolls using cabbage leaves.
Ingredients
- Dried wood ear mushroom
- 2 teaspoons finely chopped shallots
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon fish sauce
- 7 oz pork (finely chopped)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 12 cabbage leaves
- 5 stalks spring onion
Other ingredients
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 3 cups water (48 tablespoons)
- A little coriander
Step-by-step method
1. Soak the wood ear mushroom in hot water for a few minutes. Then drain it dry and slice it thinly.
2. Heat a pot and add 2 teaspoons of oil. When the oil is hot, add the shallots and sauté. Then add the garlic and ginger, and sauté until fragrant.
3. Then add the thinly sliced wood ear mushroom and stir-fry for about 1 minute. Add the fish sauce and stir-fry for a few more seconds. Then transfer to a bowl and let it cool.
4. Add the pork, salt, and ground black pepper to that bowl and knead until well mixed.
5. Add water to a pot and heat it up. Then add the cabbage leaves and boil for about 1 minute. After about a minute, remove the cabbage leaves from the water.
You should also boil the spring onions the same way.
6. Lay the cabbage leaves out in a row on a chopping board. Scoop 1 to 1.5 tablespoons of the pork filling and place it onto a cabbage leaf, then roll it up tightly. Then tie it in the middle with a spring onion strand.
7. Heat a pot and add 3 cups of water. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt, then add the cabbage rolls and bring to a boil.
Once it comes to a boil, let it simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.
After tasting for the right amount of saltiness, your delicious steamed pork cabbage rolls are ready.
