When boiling noodles for pasta, you might think that you should add oil so the strands don't stick together. However, adding oil like this is actually a pointless act for your dish. This is because later, when you toss the noodles with sauce, the oil coating will make them slippery and prevent the sauce from soaking in evenly.

So, to help you avoid making such small mistakes that could ruin your entire dish, I'd like to share some points you should watch out for.

Not letting frozen meat soften before cooking

Let meat stored in the freezer sit at room temperature for a while before cooking. Otherwise, the outside will cook while the inside remains undercooked, resulting in uneven cooking of the meat.

Don't slice meat right after grilling

When cooking meat, most of the juices tend to gather in the center. So after taking it off the heat, wait a while for the juices to spread evenly throughout the meat before slicing it.

Don't stir rice while it's cooking

Unless you're boiling rice porridge, I'd recommend not stirring the rice while it's cooking. Otherwise, the starch will be released and the rice will become mushy and broken.

Don't lift the lid while rice is cooking

If you're cooking rice in a pot, don't lift the lid just to check whether it's done or not. If you do, the heat inside the pot will escape, and the top layer of rice will end up less cooked than the bottom layer.

Not draining fish thoroughly

If you don't drain the fish properly after washing and there's still water left on it, the oil will splatter all over when you put it in the pan to fry. This will make it hard to fry properly, and the fried fish may end up misshapen.
